Academic Scholarships

Even after receiving a grave cancer diagnosis, Steven approached each day with hope and a sense of adventure, vowing not to let adversity keep him from chasing his dreams. The Steven Vanover Foundation has memorialized this legacy by establishing three academic scholarships which not only help deserving students meet their personal, academic and professional goals, but also aid in our mission of spreading sarcoma awareness through Steven’s story.

  • Steven graduated from Speed School in 2013 with a master’s degree in mechanical engineering. In December 2015, the Steven Vanover Foundation made a $15,750 donation to the University of Louisville J.B. Speed School of Engineering, which endowed the Steven D. Vanover Scholarship.

To date, the Steven Vanover Foundation has donated $40,000 to endow and grow the scholarship.

  • This scholarship is awarded to a sophomore, junior or senior pursuing an engineering degree at Speed School. The recipient must be involved in campus life, participate in community service, achieve (at minimum) a 2.5 GPA and explain why the University of Louisville is important to him or her. Financial need will also be considered. Learn more about this scholarship.
